Socks, Snacks, and Sanity: My Mama Recharge Routine
Let's be honest—some days the most "put together" I feel is when my socks match and I remember where I put the remote.
Mama life is beautiful, wild, and occasionally sticky (why is everything sticky?!) But I've learned something crucial in this season: if I don't take a moment to recharge, I run out of battery fast—and then I'm just a frazzled snack-fetcher with coffee breath.
So here's my not-so-secret, not-so-glamorous, very cozy recharge routine—the little comforts that help me feel human again.
Step 1: The Socks
Not just any socks. The soft fluffy, embarrassingly worn ones that makes me feel like I've wrapped my feet in tiny clouds. Bonus points if they're warm from the dryer. Cozy socks=mental reset.
Step 2: The Snacks
I keep a mom-stash. Don't judge. Sometimes it's peanut butter pretzels. Sometimes it's chocolate chips I told myself were for baking. It's not fancy—it's fuel. And sometimes it's eaten hiding behind the fridge door like a secret agent.
Step 3: The Sip
A hot or iced beverage in my favorite mug (which may or my not have been a motivational quote like "Hot Mess Express"). Coffee, tea, or hot cocoa — something about sipping from that cup just slows everything down for a minute.
Step 4: The Show (Or Scroll)
Whether it's a feel-good series or watching baby videos for the 47th time because yes, she really is that cute, I let myself zone out without guilt. My brain needs that fluffy content too.
Step 5: Permission to Pause
This is the big one. I give myself permission to pause—no guilt, no productivity checklist. Just ten minutes (okay, sometimes five) to be still, breathe, and remind myself I'm doing okay.
Motherhood isn't a sprint—it's a marathon in mismatched pajamas with a baby on one hip and a snack in the other. So if you're reading this and feeling a little worn down, go find your coziest socks and your favorite treat. You deserve that break, mama.
This corner of the blog is here to remind you: rest isn't lazy. It's necessary. And sometimes. the most powerful thing you can do... is nothing at all (with snacks).
