Introducing: Flop-Side Up Fridays

A new weekly sprinkle inside Mama's Mixing Bowl

Let's get one thing straight — I never signed up to be a Pinterest-perfect mom.
I'm the kind of mama who pours her coffee, forgets where she sets it, and finds it cold two hours later—next to the socks I meant to fol yesterday.

So I figured... why not celebrate that?

Welcome to Flop-Side Up Fridays— the cozy corner of Mama's Mixing Bowl where we embrace the flops, the spills, the half-burnt dinners, and the baby giggles that somehow  make it all feel just right.

Every Friday, or every other I'll be sharing:
- A real life mom moment that didn't go quite as planned
- A recipe that flopped... or surprisingly worked anyway
- Something funny, messy, heartwarming, or so me it hurts

Because motherhood is a whole lot more scrambled than sunny-side up.
And honestly? That's where the magic lives.

So grab your lukewarm coffee, pull up a chair at my slightly sticky kitchen table, and get ready to laugh, relate, and remember this:

Even when it all flops? You're still stirring up something beautiful.

First up: Strawberry pancake scramble and a toothless baby giggle.
(It's chaotic. It's delicious. It's got syrup in my hair. Let's go.)

Flop-Side Up Strawberry Pancake Scramble (a real recipe for when the flip fails)

 Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

1 egg

2 tablespoons melted butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup chopped strawberries + extra for topping

Optional: whipped cream, maple syrup

Instructions

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.

Stir wet into dry until just combined. Fold in chopped strawberries.

Heat a non-stick skillet with a bit of butter. Pour in batter like you're making pancakes — but if they stick, flop, or break apart. roll with it! Stir gently into a "pancake scramble."

Serve it all warm with whipped cream, extra strawberries, and syrup on top like it was meant to look that way!
