Pumpkin's Purrspective: Entry #23: "The Baby is Winning"
Dear Loyal Subjects,
It has come to my attention that the small human — code name: Ariella — has officially overthrown me as Supreme Ruler of the Household.
I tried to maintain my grip on power. I knocked over a vase in protest. I sat directly on Mama's laptop mid-blog draft. I meowed from the depths of the litter box like a feline banshee.
Nothing.
The tiny human cooed once and the crowd went wild.
Now, Mama sings lullabies that aren't even about me. There are bottle feedings happening every two hours, and yet not a single treat magically appears for moi. Outrageous.
I've taken to sulking dramatically in doorways and sighing like an unpaid emotional support animal. When that doesn't work, I simply climb or try to climb into Ariella's baby swing. Major fail. I missed. Sure, it's not built for a refined feline behind, but desperate times call for desperate seating.
Despite all of this, I do see why they like her. She smells like milk and mystery. She waves her tiny fists like she's ready to box a ghost. And sometimes... just sometimes... she giggles when I walk by like I'm the funniest thing she's ever seen.
So I supposed I'll allow her to remain.
But let the record show—I was here first.
With begrudging tolerance and a hint of affection,
- Pumpkin
Your Slightly Jealous, Always Ferocious Feline King.
